Procurement Governance & Adoption Lead

chicago, il • Posted 1 weeks ago
Onsite Full Time Management & Operations

The Procurement Governance & Adoption Lead will play a key role in establishing the foundation of a global Req-to-Pay (R2P) program. This role will focus on creating scalable processes, strengthening governance, implementing policies and controls, and embedding new ways of working across Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. The position will help drive operational consistency, improve compliance, support procurement due diligence, and prepare the organization for future global expansion.

This role combines process, policy, and change management expertise, serving as the Procurement-side owner of key R2P initiatives focused on ways of working and adoption. The ideal candidate will develop communication and training strategies, support successful rollout of new processes, and partner closely with Finance and cross-functional teams to drive alignment and long-term adoption.

This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity!

Responsibilities

  • Process, policy & controls - Lead the Procurement-side R2P current-state gap assessment, the global ownership model (RACI), the policy and controls revamp, and due diligence standards. Define how we operate globally, embed clear ownership across regions, and design controls that work for the business rather than against it. Help shape buy-channel strategy within the Ways of Working pillar.
  • Enablement & adoption - Own the change side of R2P: build the change strategy, communications, and training plans that get users, suppliers, and stakeholders to adopt the new ways of working. Stand up regional change champions, train the top requester groups, and turn stakeholders into partners rather than blockers.
  • Audit, risk & remediation - Coordinate audit response and remediation with Finance, AP, and internal audit. Mature our controls and build defensible, repeatable documentation, moving us from inconsistent regional approaches to a global standard.
  • Cross-functional partnership - Partner with Finance, AP, Legal, FP&A, Tax, and the global Procurement team (US, AMS, APAC) on policy, controls, RACIs, and ways of working.

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in operations, business, supply chain, finance, audit, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years in procurement, internal audit, controls/SOX, transformation, or change management - ideally with exposure to both governance and change.
  • Program management or consulting background; comfortable building RACIs, policies, and controls documentation from scratch.
  • Hands-on change management: communications, training, adoption, and supplier/requester enablement.
  • Strong stakeholder management across senior Finance, Procurement, AP, and Legal partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, draft policies, comms, and training materials.
  • A proactive problem solver who can identify, elevate, propose, and resolve gaps in process, policy, or adoption.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, technical environment, and energized by build-it-yourself foundation work (not BAU).
