Job Description
Position Summary
Dynamic Electric is seeking a hands-on Procurement Director to build and lead the company's procurement function as the business continues to grow. This leader will own supplier strategy, vendor negotiations, purchasing controls, inventory discipline, material availability, and procurement reporting. The role is responsible for reducing total material cost while protecting cash flow and ensuring field teams receive the right materials at the right time.
This is a build-and-lead role. We’ve had managers in this role, and we’re excited for the first time to hire at the executive level. The Procurement Director will first learn how Dynamic currently estimates, purchases, receives, tracks, transfers, and uses material, then establish the systems, controls, metrics, and supplier strategies needed to create a scalable procurement function.
You know this job is for you
if you’re analytical, driven, decisive, detail-oriented, strategic, organized, resourceful, accountable, and naturally curious. You like solving complex problems, finding efficiencies, asking the right questions, challenging the status quo, and making decisions based on facts. You’re highly adaptable, thrive in a fast-paced environment, hold yourself and others to high standards, and don’t need to be told what to do. You’re confident navigating ambiguity, comfortable taking ownership, and energized by building better systems, negotiating smart solutions, and getting results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an annual procurement strategy aligned with company growth, project schedules, margin goals, and cash-flow priorities.
- Lead supplier sourcing, annual pricing negotiations, commercial terms, volume agreements, and strategic vendor relationships.
- Leverage company-wide purchasing volume by material category to improve pricing, payment terms, service levels, rebates, and delivery commitments.
- Own material cost savings against budget and partner with Accounting to validate and report realized savings.
- Oversee the purchase-order process, including PO creation standards, approvals, receiving, reconciliation, and timely closure.
- Ensure materials are available when needed by the field while minimizing emergency purchases, project delays, and unnecessary expediting.
- Maintain inventory on hand below the company target of $200,000 while protecting operational readiness.
- Establish controls for jobsite inventory, warehouse inventory, material transfers, returns, excess stock, waste, and loss.
- Analyze purchasing and material data to identify price variance, overbuying, supplier issues, savings opportunities, and process gaps.
- Build procurement dashboards, scorecards, and reporting for leadership covering savings, inventory, pricing trends, delivery performance, budget performance, waste/loss, and material-related job delays.
- Partner closely with Operations, Estimating, Project Management, Accounting, Warehouse, and field leadership to improve planning and purchasing decisions.
- Monitor electrical-material lead times, supplier capacity, market pricing, and supply risks; develop alternatives and recovery plans for long-lead or unavailable materials.
- Create scalable procurement policies, workflows, controls, and accountability standards within Simpro and related business systems.
- Develop the purchasing team and establish clear roles, performance expectations, and accountability as the function grows.
Performance & Success Measures

- Inventory on hand: Achieve target metrics.
- Top 20 purchased-item pricing: flat or down year over year.
- On-time material delivery to the field: target to be established.

Qualifications
- Proven procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply-chain leadership experience in a materials-intensive environment.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating vendor pricing and agreements to achieve target metrics.
- Experience building or significantly redesigning a purchasing or inventory system, not only operating an existing process.
- Working knowledge of electrical materials and lead times, including EMT, wire, devices, and gear.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to connect purchasing decisions to job cost, margin, working capital, and cash flow.
- Ability to establish KPIs, analyze spend and pricing data, and communicate results clearly to executive leadership.
- Strong negotiation, vendor-management, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
- High integrity, sound judgment, accountability, and alignment with Dynamic Electric POWER values.
What your first 30 days will look like
The first 30 days are focused on discovery, relationships, and understanding the current operation before major process changes are made.
- Shadow field crews and learn how material is requested, received, used, returned, and transferred.
- Sit with Accounting to understand purchasing, AP, job-cost, PO, and reconciliation workflows.
- Visit key suppliers with company leadership and review current pricing, terms, agreements, and service levels.
- Build competency in Simpro, current purchasing workflows, estimating practices, open POs, and existing inventory practices.
- Review twelve months of material spend, the top 20 purchased items, vendor concentration, and available purchasing data.
- Identify the most important data and process gaps to address during the first 90 days.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Procurement Director will create a disciplined, measurable procurement function that lowers material cost, strengthens supplier performance, protects cash flow, improves inventory visibility, and keeps projects supplied without unnecessary excess. This person will be equally comfortable negotiating with a major supplier, reviewing spend data with Accounting, solving a material shortage with Operations, and building the systems required for Dynamic Electric to scale.
