Maintenance Technician IIThis position is a Maintenance Technician II in an egg production and processing facility. The purpose of this position is to complete minor to major equipment repairs during non-production and production times of the day.Key Responsibilities:Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctionsDismantle machines, equipment or devices to access and remove defective parts to conduct repairsMaintain food processing equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on equipment, such as; inspecting motors, bearings, belts, fluid levels and replacing filtersPerform general maintenance tasks to include; plumbing, electrical wiring, installation of new equipment and partsDocument all maintenance performed including preventative maintenanceIdentify any required parts needed and notify supervisorEnsure facility supervisors are notified when maintenance or repairs are to be undertaken in any food handling areaRemove all tools and debris from any maintenance activity once it has been completedNotify appropriate personnel of completion so appropriate hygiene and sanitation can be performed before commencement of facility operationsFabrication and welding as needed for plant repairs and upgradesTroubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipmentUses various test equipment, such as voltmeter and clamp-on amp meter for troubleshooting and calibrationAlso uses pneumatic controls and devices for building and troubleshooting equipmentRepairs electrical equipmentMaintains and repairs electronic, Frequency drives/invertersPerforms cost justification of equipment and process changesInitiates purchase order for parts and machinesCompletes scheduled/unscheduled work orders and thoroughly documents work performed for tracking in Preventive Maintenance programsOperates and maintains boilerMaintains records for boiler and monitors chemical usageOperates and maintains ammonia/glycol refrigerationMaintains recordsStudies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignmentQualifications:Minimum of high school diplomaMaintenance certification or equivalent experienceMust be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certificationPrevious experience in maintenance is requiredExperience in Food Manufacturing or Processing very desirableSafety programs and processes, such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, etc.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceStrong ability to work alone or with little supervisionAbility to determine causes of operating errors and be able to resolve themAbility to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsStrong knowledge in Pneumatics, and Power Transmission are requiredKnowledge of, electrical troubleshooting, computers, and fork liftsKnowledge in electrical and electronics including frequency drives and inverters, generators, computers and PM Software desiredPhysical Demands:Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionallyWork Environment:Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicalsTemperature is regulated for operations standards.
