A career at Hill's Pet Nutrition or Colgate-Palmolive is an excellent opportunity if you seek a global experience, constant challenge, and development opportunities in an environment that respects work/life effectiveness.Job SummaryThe Process Operator position is responsible for functions associated with inbound bulk ingredient unloading (receiving) and mill room (batching).Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnloaded trucks and rail cars and perform inventory movementsPerform all shift documentation for quality purposesObtain ingredient samples and bin measurementsMust be forklift certified or have the ability to qualifyUnderstand production schedules, computer systems, work instructions and inventory procedures to ensure accurate reportingCommunicate to ensure materials are replenished in a timely mannerAccurately perform quality checks and complete documentation without errorMaintain a safe and clean work areaMaintains accurate records of QC checks, production numbers or waste performanceDemonstrates high degree of ownership for product qualityPerforms all standard quality checks & other quality related dutiesAbility to understand production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventoriesOther duties and responsibilities as assignedThis is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions.Education/Experience RequirementsBasic qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalentMust be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedulesAbility to understand and effectively communicate in the English languagePreferred qualifications include: 3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment2 years of work experience within manufacturingWorking knowledge of food safety practicesComputer ExperienceKnowledge of inventory control principlesExpected Areas of SkillsAbility to follow instructionsStrong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and express ideas with team membersKnowledge of and compliance with Safety, GMP's, and environmental procedures and regulationsBasic computer skills (ability to access, input, and retrieve information)Ability to Read/Write/Speak and understand EnglishAbility to be flexible regarding work schedules and shift rotations (including nights, weekends, and holidays)Physical RequirementsAbility to work in an environment that has a wide range of temperature, variation, and humidityLift varied capacities over the following time periodsLift and carry 65 pounds repeatedly in an 8 or 12 hour periodPush and pull 50 pounds repeatedly in an 8 or 12 hour periodObjects being lifted weigh up to 50 pounds include bags of raw materials and performing changeovers on equipmentConsequences of not being able to lift these bags include not being able to run the needed products/dietsThis could result in a significant risk to our customers and brandClimb ladders and stairsWork on overhead equipmentWalk unlimited distances every work dayPush or pull 800 pound totes on wheels across a cement surface 8 to 24 times for 8 hoursWork with hands overhead occasionallyBend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees 100+ times for 8 hoursWear dust masks and hearing protectionPerceive visual and audible alarms and telephones while wearing hearing protectionReceive and transmit radio communicationPerform tasks with vision corrected to a minimum of 20/40 with full peripheral vision for forklift drivingAbility to perform tasks in an environment that contains significant levels of dustLeadership CompetenciesTeamwork and CollaborationSelf-Awareness/Personal Impact Analysis / Decision MakingFunctional CompetenciesContinuous ImprovementManaging ProductionCross-Functional CompetenciesEHS and Quality LeadershipSupply Chain Systems and AnalysisCross Organizational CollaborationManaging with Respect CompetenciesCommunicate EffectivelyValue Unique ContributionsPromotes TeamworkSets the ExampleWorking Relationships (Key partnerships and reporting relationships)Does this position supervise: NoTeam membersTeam Leaders, Area Leaders, Operations Manager AIB, FDA, USDA and other external auditing agencies or customersTravel Requirements Expected percentage of travel, up to 5%Compensation and BenefitsSalary Range $ - $ USD Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
