Process Engineer (Professional Engineer – PE)

Job Description & Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Project Manager in executing process engineering and capital projects from planning through commissioning.
• Develop project charters, technical scopes, and business justifications for process engineering projects.
• Translate general project descriptions into detailed and technically justified project scopes.
• Manage project execution activities, including procurement, fabrication, equipment installation, and commissioning.
• Lead meetings and workshops to understand business requirements and align project objectives with stakeholders.
• Perform process design, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
• Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Work with process equipment, including pumps, valves, and related systems.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Support the development of RFPs, technical Statements of Work (SOWs), project proposals, and resource estimates.
• Develop preliminary project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Conduct project risk assessments, track mitigation actions, and ensure project deliverables are completed.
• Coordinate with site teams and global leadership to align project KPIs, cost savings, equipment efficiency, sustainability, and business objectives.
• Manage contractors, project documentation, and commissioning requirements.
• Lead project steering committee meetings and provide regular project status reports.
• Collaborate with Finance and other stakeholders to develop project business cases and capital expenditure justifications.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license – preferably Texas PE.
• Experience in process engineering, process design, and process optimization.
• Strong knowledge of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Experience managing capital projects and engineering project execution.
• Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, and industrial process systems.
• Experience with project scope development, technical SOWs, RFPs, and risk management.
• Strong project planning, resource management, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills.
• Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, or other industrial environments preferred.
