The company had 2025 revenue of approximately $8.8 billion and is headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, USA.Responsibilities include:Troubleshoot operational issues; interface with operations and maintenance personnel as problems are addressedDevelop and execute capital projects (includes developing scope, conducting project safety reviews, generating cost estimates, serving as project manager when funds are approved, etc)Develop all conceptual design, basic engineering and process-related input for detailed engineering deliverablesInterface with contract project engineering personnelProjects may address process safety improvement or improvements to process, utilities and/or plant infrastructureLead and participate in process hazard reviews, PHA revalidation and LOPA analysisExecute and close PHA and LOPA recommendationsIdentify productivity improvement projects by analysing production data, performing process heat and material balances, modeling and simulating the process, pinch analyses and other quantification methodsPropose production tests to collect data for productivity improvement projects. Evaluate the results of production tests.
Utilize design of experiment methodology where applicableMonitor and continually optimize process operation; provide guidance to operations personnel to ensure that key energy consumption, yield, selectivity and production targets are metGenerate Management of Change (MOC) documents to address plant needs; complete engineering aspects of MOC documentationFollow new technology developments and evaluate opportunities to implement in existing unitsCooperate with new business development activities to estimate capital expenditure needs for implementing business growth plansParticipate in plant safety audits and routine safety improvement activitiesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required5+ years' experience in chemical/petrochemical industry or related industry, in either Engineering or Operations roleCommitment to high level of safety and environmental awarenessCompetencies:Self-starter with a focus on resultsStrong collaboration skillsStrong process understanding and troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of heat exchanger design, simulation and rating is a plusRelief device sizing, specification and selection are a plusStrong background in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, ASPEN+ modeling softwareWorking knowledge of SAPExperience with Vision a plusExhibit good leadership attitudes and behaviorsExcellent written, listening, and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationship with Operations and Maintenance employeesFlexibility to occasionally work extended hours during weekdays; willing and able to respond to call outs in evenings, weekends and holidays on a non-routine basisHave a working knowledge of HAZOP and LOPA methodologyTrained facilitator credentials are a plusNote Eastman will not accept applicants for this offered position who require visa sponsorship, including those whose status is F-1 visa OPT who subsequently would require ongoing visa sponsorship.
