CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER
LOCATION: Peekskill, NY
COMPENSATION: $85,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience
Our client, a manufacturing company specializing in precision-engineered products, is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive process optimization, improve product quality, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement Lean manufacturing practices, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver measurable results across production operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering; 5-7 years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and process optimization.
- Experience with quality management systems, data analysis, and performance improvement tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI and ERP/MES systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must meet ITAR requirements and authorized to work in the U.S.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap, rework, defects, and operating costs while improving productivity and product quality.
- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve recurring manufacturing and quality issues.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methodologies, including Kaizen, 5S, value-stream mapping, and standard work.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to optimize workflows, production processes, and equipment utilization.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure improvement results and ensure sustainable outcomes.
- Document improved processes, establish standard procedures, and train employees on continuous improvement practices.
- Support new product introductions, process changes, and initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
