Process Engineer IThe Process Engineer I supports manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and sustaining production processes throughout the sheet metal fabrication operation. This entry-level engineering position partners closely with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance to improve safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.The Process Engineer I assists with troubleshooting manufacturing issues, implementing engineering changes, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production and quality issuesAssist in developing efficient manufacturing methods for new and existing productsEvaluate production processes and recommend improvements that increase throughput and reduce wasteSupport fabrication processes including:Fiber laser cuttingPress brake formingWelding (MIG, TIG, robotic)Hardware insertionGrinding and finishingMechanical assemblyParticipate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issuesCreate and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Develop and revise work instructions and standard operating proceduresProcess Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)Maintain engineering documentation within the ERP systemReview customer drawings for manufacturability (DFM)Assist with prototype builds and first article productionSupport product launches and engineering transfers into productionCollaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve technical questionsParticipate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiativesAnalyze production metrics to identify opportunities for improved efficiencyRecommend tooling, fixture, or process improvements that reduce cycle time and improve qualitySupport corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)Assist with nonconforming material investigationsEnsure manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and customer specificationsSupport ISO 9001 quality system requirementsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, preferred but not requiredRecent college graduate or up to three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production engineering roleManufacturing internship, co-op, or other hands-on engineering experience preferredExperience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, CNC machining, press brake operations, or metal forming is preferred but not requiredWorking knowledge of CAD preferred SolidWorksProficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel (formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TeamsExperience using ERP/MRP systems is preferredFamiliarity with manufacturing documentation including engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), routers, work instructions, and engineering change orders (ECOs)Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, continuous improvement, and root cause problem-solving methodologies is preferredAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specificationsWork EnvironmentSafety is our top priority to minimize risk.
