Process EngineerDate: Jul 31, 2026Location: Concord, NC, US, 28026Company: CorningRequisition Number: 76654Corning's Optical Fiber & Cable division is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical expertise and engineering support for chemical technology, pollution abatement, and facility systems within optical fiber manufacturing. This is a hands-on role for an early-career engineer who thrives on data-driven problem solving in a fast-paced, outdoor manufacturing environment based in Concord, NC.Work Hours, Location and Travel RequirementsLocation: Concord, NCHours of work/work schedule/flex-time: ~8 hours/day 40 hours/week. This position requires off-hours coverage on nights and weekends on a rotating basis with co-workers.Travel Requirements: Less than 5%Key ResponsibilitiesProvide process understanding and technical support for chemical technology, pollution abatement, and facility systems supporting optical fiber manufacturingDiagnose and resolve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter expertsLead and support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new product/process introductionAnalyze key process metrics, identify trends, and implement response plansSupport startup of new equipment and systems; develop and maintain engineering and operations documentationActively engage in plant safety initiatives and provide training to engineering and operations personnel on equipment and process changesExperiences/Education - RequiredBachelors in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)1+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong data analysis and statistical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access (queries, databases)Experience with experimental designStrong technical fundamentals with process engineering skillsProject management experienceExperiences/Education - DesiredMasters in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as MaximoProficiency with statistical and data tools: SQL, PI Processbook, Databricks, and/or PowerBISix Sigma Green Belt certificationWastewater and process water experienceExperience with mechanical drawings and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)Knowledge of manufacturing cost accountingExperience presenting technical solutions and network designs to audiences ranging from field technicians to senior leadershipDiagnoses root cause of process and equipment issues using structured problem-solving and experimental methodsThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $82,974.00 - $114,090.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.Corning offers you the total package.
