Process Controls & Automation TechnicianThe Process Controls & Automation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring uptime and process optimization through advanced troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and programming of control systems and related electrical/electronic equipment. This role focuses on SCADA, PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and automation systems and ensures compliance with ISO standards and internal documentation practices.Primary responsibilities include:Troubleshoot, repair, and install PLC-based control systems (primarily Siemens and GE Fanuc; some Allen Bradley).Maintain and update SCADA systems, including iFix and iHistorian platforms.Perform backups of PLC and drive programs to ensure disaster recovery preparedness.Calibrate and verify instrumentation to meet ISO compliance and process control standards.Install, commission, and maintain VFDs, including tuning and programming.Support continuous improvement projects by modifying or upgrading existing automation systems.Diagnose and resolve control issues quickly to minimize downtime.Interpret and update schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation.Use computer systems to track and manage parts and work orders.Maintain compliance with NFPA 70E, LOTO, and all site safety policies.Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.Qualifications include:Education / Experience: Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferred. Will accept a minimum of 3 years of relevant controls, automation, or industrial maintenance experience in lieu of degree.Preferred skills and experience include:Strong proficiency with Siemens and GE Fanuc PLCsWorking knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCsExperience with SCADA software (iFix preferred) and data historians (iHistorian)Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)Instrumentation calibration experience (temperature, pressure, flow, level)Strong electrical troubleshooting and schematic reading skillsExperience with ISO-compliant maintenance practicesCompetencies include:Strong attention to detail and documentationExcellent problem-solving skillsEffective communicator and team collaboratorProactive and self-directed with time management abilitiesContinuous improvement mindsetComfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various industrial environmentsPhysical requirements and work environment include:Able to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 75 lbs.), climb stairs/ladders, and work in elevated or tight spacesExposure to noise, temperature extremes, and rotating equipmentMust be able to work 8-hour day shift Monday through Friday.
