Onsite Contract Architecture and Engineering Occupations

A full-time Process Control Engineer position is available in the beautiful area of Rock Hill, SC. In this role, you'll own the configuration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of automation systems inside a large-scale, continuous-process manufacturing operation - the kind of environment where your work shows up directly in uptime, product quality, and cost performance. If you want your technical judgment to matter on a daily basis, this role puts you where the decisions get made.
You'll be developing control strategies that solve real process problems, not managing a queue of tickets. The facility runs modern DCS and PLC platforms, and the team is looking for someone who can move fluidly between hands-on troubleshooting and forward-looking system design.
What You'll Own:

  • Control strategy development - design and implement automation strategies that resolve process issues, improve product quality, reduce downtime, and lower operating costs
  • System documentation - build and maintain control schematics, operational narratives, loop sheets, software backups, and troubleshooting references that the next engineer can actually use
  • Technical support - serve as the go-to resource for maintenance and operations on control-related problems, translating deep system knowledge into practical fixes
  • Project execution - help direct maintenance, operations, and contract personnel through implementation, keeping projects on track from concept to start-up
  • Supervisory scope - grows with your experience and demonstrated capability
Skills and Qualification:
  • B.S. in Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years in a related engineering role, including 2+ years in a process industry environment
  • Hands-on experience with ABB 800xA or Honeywell TDC 3000
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, GE, or Siemens PLC platforms (preferred)
  • Exposure to the full lifecycle of automation project implementation - not just commissioning, but the planning and support that comes before and after
  • Working knowledge of the IT/OT overlap: Windows environments, disaster recovery, networking, OSIsoft PI, GE Plant Applications, SQL Server, VMware
  • Comfort with industrial communication protocols - OPC, Modbus RTU, TCP/IP, Serial
  • Solid grounding in instrument-based control loops from end to end
  • The ability to communicate clearly across engineering, maintenance, and operations - this role sits at the intersection of all three
  • A problem-solver's mindset: someone who can balance the urgent with the important and knows how to get both done

Why This Role Is Worth a Look:
Process control roles like this one don't turn over often - the person in this role becomes the specialist for how the plant's automation actually works. If you're an engineer who wants ownership over meaningful systems, a direct line to operational impact, and a team that will lean on your expertise rather than sideline it, this is that kind of position.
