Mental Health Technician
The Mental Health Technician (MHT), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is an active member of the patient treatment team and will provide care to patients. The MHT implements the therapeutic interventions developed by the treatment team for each patient and maintains awareness of patient's individualized plan of care (including goals and interventions).
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct care and supervision to patients on assigned unit
- Monitoring and intervening to maintain appropriate patient boundaries
- Conducting patient safety checks
Qualifications:
Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
Experience: One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the State of Texas.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training (CPI) and Service Excellence Training and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.
