Private equity M&A is a reps business — associates get good by running deals, and that only happens at firms with enough sponsor deal flow to hand real ownership to mid-levels.
A Global 100 firm is hiring a private equity M&A associate (3–6 years) in Miami. Cravath scale — $270K–$410K depending on class year.
You'd own transaction workstreams from deal inception through closing — drafting principal documents, running diligence, and coordinating specialists across tax, finance, benefits, real estate, and IP — for financial sponsors and their portfolio companies, with junior associates working under you.
The work includes:
- Drafting and negotiating acquisition agreements, equity documents, and ancillary deal documents
- Running due diligence — spotting the red flags and translating them into the documents and the deal process
- Portfolio company matters: add-on acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and general corporate counseling
- Driving execution and closings on sponsor timelines
What you bring:
- 3–6 years of M&A experience, ideally sponsor-side, at a large or comparably sophisticated firm
- Reps running discrete workstreams from early deal stages through closing
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with comfort in front of clients
What you get:
- Real deal ownership at your level, including supervising and mentoring junior associates
- Sponsor-side PE experience that stays portable across markets and market cycles
- Cravath scale ($270K–$410K depending on class year)
