Our client is a late-stage life sciences venture capital firm looking to hire a Controller. This is a hands‑on role overseeing the day‑to‑day finance function across a multi‑jurisdictional fund structure, with significant interaction with senior leadership and external service providers.
The role reports directly to the Founding Managing Partner and is intended to provide a path to CFO as the platform continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee fund accounting and third‑party administrators across U.S., Cayman and Luxembourg vehicles
- Review quarterly NAVs, capital accounts and partner allocations and maintain independent shadow records
- Manage capital calls, distributions, waterfall and carried interest calculations
- Lead quarterly portfolio valuations under ASC 820
- Own annual audits, financial reporting and tax/K-1 coordination
- Manage fund and management company cash, treasury, management fees and expense allocations
- Oversee LP reporting, investor requests and support fundraising/data room initiatives
- Coordinate cross-border fund and entity administration, including Luxembourg and Cayman providers
- Partner closely with the CCO on finance‑related compliance, AML/KYC and regulatory reporting
- Own fund accounting/investor reporting systems, including Juniper Square and Carta
Qualifications:
- Controller or equivalent fund finance experience within venture capital, private equity or another closed‑end fund
- Prior experience working at a fund administrator serving private capital clients
- Strong technical knowledge of private fund accounting, including partners' capital, waterfalls/carry, ASC 820 valuations and management fees
- Experience owning annual audit and K-1 cycles
- Ability to read and apply LPAs, side letters and subscription documents
- Cross‑border fund experience strongly preferred, particularly Luxembourg and/or parallel fund structures
- Cayman, FATCA/CRS, multi‑currency treasury, SPV/co‑investment and Juniper Square/Carta experience are additional pluses
