A leading alternative investment platform focused on private credit is seeking an Investment Associate to join its New York team.
The role will focus on evaluating, underwriting, structuring, and monitoring investments across the private credit and leveraged finance markets. The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals throughout the full investment lifecycle, from initial opportunity assessment through diligence, execution, and portfolio monitoring.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private credit, leveraged finance, credit investing, restructuring, or a related investment role.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, credit analysis, and debt markets.
- Experience analyzing leveraged companies and evaluating debt capacity, cash flow, and downside scenarios.
- Strong financial modeling and accounting skills.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize complex financial and business information into clear investment conclusions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced investment environment.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field from a strong academic institution.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in private credit and alternative investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities across private credit, leveraged finance, and structured credit.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, debt capacity analyses, downside cases, and returns analyses.
- Perform credit underwriting and assess borrowers' business models, competitive positioning, cash flow generation, leverage, liquidity, and capital structures.
- Analyze transaction structures, financing terms, covenants, collateral packages, and sources and uses.
- Conduct industry, company, and market research to support investment recommendations.
- Participate in management meetings, diligence calls, lender discussions, and interactions with financial sponsors and advisors.
- Prepare investment committee materials, underwriting memoranda, and presentations for senior investment professionals.
- Monitor existing portfolio investments, including financial performance, covenant compliance, liquidity, and credit developments.
- Track market conditions, comparable transactions, valuation levels, and developments across relevant industries.
- Work collaboratively with senior team members on transaction execution, documentation, and portfolio management.
