Printing Technician III (PW120)Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Printing Technician / Printing Technician III (PW120) in the Printing Services department. The Lancer Print Shop provides the highest-quality printed materials, copies, and service in the most efficient, courteous manner. The selected candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all digital printing presses, providing excellent quality and workmanship for Longwood University faculty, staff, and students. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Prepare documents, complex reports, brochures, and multi-colored documents for digital reproductionOperate digital printing pressesOperate digital engraverMaintain web-based digital ordering systemCommunicate with customers on projects, providing excellent customer serviceProvide operational support to customers as needed to ensure the successful completion of projectsProcess financial transactions in accordance with university policies and procedures, including operating the cash register and handling depositsOperate bindery equipment (perfect binder, stitcher, spiral binding machine, padding press) and fulfillment equipment (booklet maker, drill press, cutter)Maintain proficiency in fulfilling orders as well as completing orders by the scheduled due dateOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredExtensive customer service experienceExperience with Mac computersWorking knowledge of general printing practices to prepare for digital reproductionExtensive computer experience including MS Office, required; Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Suite, preferredExperience with wide format equipment such as Roland XR-640 or an approved equivalentKnowledge of wide format production, mechanical assembly, and sign/banner manufacturingAbility to provide weekly preventative maintenance including calibration, cleaning, oiling, etc., of existing equipmentDemonstrated ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 poundsForklift training desired but can be provided once hiredExperience operating printing equipment to include digital presses, bindery equipment, digital engraver, high-speed printers, and copiers, preferredAbility to sit and or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple tasks and prioritiesThis is a part-time, non-exempt, funded wage position in pay band 3. The anticipated pay range for this position is $16.83 - $20.00 per hour. Hours worked will vary based on need, but will be limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position.
