Principal Signal Processing Research Engineer signifies that at least 50% of the competencies at the Fellow level have been demonstrated.Job ResponsibilitiesDesign, conduct, and lead signal processing research and development for hearing aids.Serve as technical lead in signal processing research and development projects.Actively work with product development groups to bring research results to products.Generate exemplary technical/research documentation and reports.Provide technical leadership in research and development activities.Lead and drive projects and project-groups on signal processing and its applications.Mentor and guide junior colleagues.Actively monitor, identify, and propose new research and development opportunities.Work with the management to maintain and enhance group dynamics and processes.Promote and support research internally and externally.Participate in and contribute to relevant professional conferences, internal seminars, and knowledge sharing events.Promote and participate in internal and external research collaborations.Lead and contribute to intellectual property related activities, such as patent applications.Results – Performance MeasuresEffectiveness on execution - timelinessProblem solving and resolutionWorking with principal investigators: interaction and working relationshipsConference attendance, presentations, papers, and patentsThorough understanding of Starkey procedures and documentationOther DutiesSupport Starkey Employee Corporate and/or Department Guidelines.Check and verify quality.Support corporate health and safety objectives.React to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.Job RequirementsEducation:Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.Experience:A minimum of 13 years of applicable experience is required for candidates with a Master's degree.A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience is required for candidates with a Ph.D. degreeKnowledge:Advanced knowledge of digital signal processing and its applications requiredKnowledge of audio signal processing requiredKnowledge of biomedical signal processing desirableKnowledge of hearing aids desirableKnowledge of psychoacoustics is desirableKnowledge of acoustics is desirableSkills & Abilities:Proficiency in MATLAB, C/C++, and/or PythonGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership characteristicsExceptional ability for innovation and creativity
