Position Overview
Principal Modeling Simulation and Analysis Engineer or Senior Principal Modeling Simulation & Performance Analysis Systems Engineer – Baltimore, MD. 100% on-site.
Responsibilities
- Accelerate delivery of capabilities through performance engineering, software integration, and test activities leveraging credible modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis.
- Apply MS&A techniques across all phases of radar systems engineering to assess, validate, and optimize system and subsystem performance, working with IQ data from simulated and real-world collections.
- Perform performance-focused modeling and simulation on high-performance computing grids, conduct trade studies, and generate systems engineering documents, reports, and operational documentation.
- Utilize MSE&A frameworks to support software integration, algorithm development, and radar mode validation, ensuring consistency between modeled environments and real-world data.
- Assess system capabilities by linking requirements to performance metrics and mission threads, defining and verifying interfaces, and supporting integration and test activities.
- Support systems engineering radar algorithm validation by tracing IQ data through the radar processing chain, comparing modeled and collected data, and identifying performance shortfalls and corrective actions.
- Plan, generate, and execute verification and validation artifacts supporting system design verification testing and system acceptance testing, including test plans, procedures, and data review packages.
- Develop and improve performance models, simulation frameworks, and analysis tools, including physics-based radar models, threat and environment models, and command-and-control interactions.
- Perform large-scale data analytics, probabilities, and statistics, including design of experiments techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to diagnose performance issues, recommend design changes or tuning, and ensure integrated solutions meet requirements.
- Generate and present technical material for internal and external customer briefings, technical reviews, and design/test readiness events.
- Innovate to solve problems and identify improvements across MSE&A products, performance analysis workflows, and integration/test approaches.
- Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools to explore, validate, and communicate performance results.
Basic Qualifications
Principal Modeling Simulation & Performance Analysis Systems Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, Master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
- Experience in modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, scripting in Linux/Windows environments, and experience in statistics, design of experiments, and high-performance computing.
- Experience with DoD testing and acquisition principles, including developmental testing, planning, and execution of weapon tests.
Senior Principal Modeling Simulation & Performance Analysis Systems Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
- Experience in modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, scripting in Linux/Windows environments, and experience in statistics, design of experiments, and high-performance computing.
- Experience with DoD testing and acquisition principles, including developmental testing, planning, and execution of weapon tests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Active Top Secret Clearance or higher.
- Experience with JMP, R, or other domain-specific environments for data exploration, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Domain experience in simulations of RF, EOIR, Communications, or related systems.
- Experience with optimal estimation theory (Maximum likelihood estimation, minimum mean squared error, Kalman filtering, Wiener filtering, particle filtering, Cramer-Rao lower bound).
- Experience with adaptive signal processing (space time adaptive signal processing, MVDR, Multiple Signal Classification).
- Understanding of Systems Engineering and Integration & Test processes.
- Experience with Agile and/or SAFe methodologies.
- Experience optimizing multiple subsystem performance within a large solution space.
- Demonstrated technical leadership with small teams and/or mentoring.

Compensation
Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00. Salary determined by scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience.
