Position Summary
Translational scientist with cardiovascular biology background to identify and discover biomarkers supporting progression of late-discovery programs to early phase clinical trials. Collaborate with development; may serve as discovery-to-development liaison. Establish pharmacodynamic endpoints consistent with mechanism of action using in vivo/functional-structural analyses and ex vivo/in vitro biochemical or molecular assays (including novel assay development). Test translational hypotheses using human samples or human-relevant systems; primarily on-site, lab-based.
Position Responsibilities
- Define pharmacodynamic biomarkers of response and disease progression; explain clinical translation.
- Design experiments; perform/interpret lab work (cell culture, immunoassays ELISA/MSD, IHC, protein signaling, qPCR).
- Make in-life experimental modifications as needed.
- Lead studies to completion; analyze samples internally or direct CRO studies.
- Critically evaluate programs; present findings/recommendations.
- Document and present data in a timely manner; collaborate cross-functionally.
- Train and guide team members.
- Author reports/abstracts/publications.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's: 8+ years (academic/industry) OR Master's: 6+ years OR Ph.D.: 4+ years.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Strong cardiovascular physiology and preclinical/clinical methodologies; imaging biomarkers (e.g., ultrasound-echocardiography, MRI, PET).
- Apply 3Rs; species-specific animal research considerations.
- Rodent handling experience.
- iPSC-CM/primary cardiac cell/engineered heart tissue expertise.
- Excellent, accurate/reproducible lab skills; manage external collaborators; self-motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative.
