Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal Regulatory Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice to be based in our Washington, DC office. Other locations may be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team providing a high level of project management and Federal and State regulatory and technical expertise. You will lead projects, identify new clients, build on relationships with existing clients, and develop new business in the regulatory space.

You will be responsible for

  • Providing Federal and State pesticide registration strategy and regulatory support
  • Identifying new clients and new business marketing opportunities in related fields
  • Developing clients through business development and marketing efforts
  • Client management and project work; interacting directly with clients and regulators
  • Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables, invoices, and budgets
  • Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for Federal and State pesticide related projects
  • Synthesizing technical and regulatory information for clients and regulators
  • Providing scientific technical peer review
  • Mentoring junior staff

You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in a science-related field
  • Ten (10) or more years of EPA FIFRA/FFDCA pesticide regulatory experience. This position requires knowledge, solid understanding, and practical experience with U.S. EPA FIFRA/FFDCA regulations and State regulations for pesticides and chemicals
  • Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare, edit, and proofread technical and regulatory documents
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus
  • Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit is a plus
