Our Mission

Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories, wait on hold, wait weeks for a visit, stay in a room designed for waiting, and get surprise bills. In any other consumer industry, this would be unsustainable. Companies delivering such experiences would not survive. In healthcare, patients lack market power and are expected to accept the unacceptable. Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. We’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in‑person or virtual care across 50 states, 200+ specialties, and 12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power and can make healthcare like every other consumer sector, where competition drives quality and price.

Your Impact on Our Mission

As a Principal Product Designer at Zocdoc, you will shape how patients discover care and how providers deliver it. You will define and drive design direction across large, complex, and ambiguous spaces, influencing product strategy and experience architecture. Your work ensures cohesive, scalable, and aligned experiences across marketplace and provider surfaces. You will help drive the transition to AI‑native product development, defining how design and engineering collaborate in an AI‑driven environment and setting new standards for moving ideas from concept to production.

You’ll enjoy this role if you are…

  • Driven to solve high‑impact, ambiguous problems that span multiple user groups and product areas
  • Motivated by shaping not just products, but the systems, patterns, and strategies behind them
  • Energized by operating at both strategic and execution levels, connecting vision to shipped outcomes
  • Deeply curious about how AI is transforming product development and excited to help define what comes next

  • Establishing and evolving design systems, frameworks, and patterns that enable high‑quality, extensible solutions across teams
  • Elevating the quality bar through hands‑on work, critique, and mentorship while connecting execution to a broader product and experience vision
  • Driving efficient delivery of high‑impact work, guiding tradeoffs between speed, fidelity, and long‑term scalability
  • Leading the integration of AI‑native workflows, using emerging tools to accelerate concept‑to‑production cycles and define new ways of working

You’ll be successful in this role if you have…

  • A proven track record of leading and delivering high‑impact product work across complex, multi‑team problem spaces, with strong product judgment and the ability to influence strategy and direction
  • Exceptional craft, creativity, and taste, consistently producing work that raises the bar and pushes product quality and brand forward
  • Deep systems thinking, with experience designing across journeys and building scalable, reusable frameworks that connect experiences across a multi‑sided ecosystem
