Overview
An innovative aerospace engineering firm is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to take full ownership of advanced power system designs for space applications. This is a high-impact, hands-on role working across the complete product lifecycle—from concept to flight-ready hardware. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with the ability to mentor junior engineers and, ideally, engage with customers during design reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of high-reliability power electronics for space systems.
- Design, prototype, test, and deliver hardware for applications including:
- Three-phase power mechanisms
- Take designs from breadboard → brassboard → flight-ready hardware.
- Interface with customers and internal engineering teams during technical reviews.
- Contribute to system-level architecture decisions and provide technical mentorship to peers.
Technical Environment
- Power & System Specs: High voltage / high power systems, including designs up to 8kW DC-DC phase-shift converters.
- Design Tools: Altium, OrCAD
- Standards: Familiarity with aerospace/military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, IPC PCB standards) preferred.
Qualifications
- Experience: ~10 years preferred, but exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered.
- Proven track record designing complex power electronics from scratch through deployment.
- Aerospace or high-reliability electronics background strongly preferred; direct space experience not required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills for customer and cross-functional engagement.
