The ideal Power Electronics Engineer will have present and prior experience working in Defense, Space, Aerospace and Automotive/EV Industries. This role offers great career progression as there is a path to become a leader within the company to have the opportunity to lead and manage a small Power Electronics team.

Salary on offer:

The annual salary on offer for the successful Principal Power Electronics Engineer is $165,000 - $256,000 per annum. Equity is offered.

Summary of the Principal Power Electronics Engineering Role:

The successful Principal Power Electronics Engineer will take full ownership to lead the development, design, build, and commissioning of power conversion & electrical systems for defense systems utilizing cutting-edge launch technologies.

Principal Power Electronics Engineer Key Skills:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5-10+ years industry professional experience
  • Experience having successfully taken designs from concept into volume production
  • Hands-on design, development & testing of power electronics designs, switch-mode topologies & feedback controls
  • Motor Control Design
  • Experience Designing a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor controller
  • Experience of state-of-art power electronic components (e.g. MOSFET’s IGBTs, SiC/GaN transistors, diodes, Driver IC, gate drive, transformers, and capacitors)
  • High level of proficiency designing and implementing electrical sizing of motors, cables, circuit protection, VFDs, motor starters, various other motion systems
  • Experience designing signal conditioning circuits, digital circuits, and switching power converters
  • Understanding & experience of DC motors, Servos, Electrical Linear Actuators, Linears
  • Electronics Circuit Design (analogue, digital & power circuits)
  • PCB Design & Schematic Capture
  • Experience using Altium Designer
  • Experience of Embedded C, C++, Python & Microcontrollers
  • Experience working in military or aerospace industries with a strong background in MIL-STD-461, 464, 810, DO-160 compliance, or similar industrial/automotive standard – Bonus
  • Experience with EMC/EMI, CE Marking, sensors, power management, and signal/power integrity
  • Experience in Defense, Space, Aerospace, Automotive or similar safety critical industries
  • Strong problem solving skills, innovative, communication and team-work skills
