- Design, develop, and integrate mechanical components used in solid rocket motor systems
- Create CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for motor cases, nozzles, insulation systems, joints, and structural interfaces
- Apply advanced engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test mechanically functioning equipment
- Guide interpretation of blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate design feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
- Specify system components or direct product modifications to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties, diagnose faulty operation, and make recommendations to maintenance crews
- May lead functional teams or projects
- Travel up to 25% likely
Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience
- Engineering degree required
- Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer for solid rocket motors
- Experience with mechanical design integration of solid propulsion systems
- Experience with mechanical system design, mass properties, and integrating sub-assemblies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Oral and written communication skills
