Job Summary

We are looking for a highly technical Principal Mechanical Engineer with deep subject‑matter expertise in high‑temperature mechanical system design using metal‑alloy components to execute product development engineering tasks from concept, through testing, into series production. In this role, you will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to design, analyze, integrate, and test reactor and separation technologies for Amogy’s next‑generation power solutions.

Location: Brooklyn, NY (fully onsite)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of mechanical structures and assemblies for ammonia cracking and separation systems.
  • Spearhead designs from concept through launch, including detailed 3D modeling, material selection, stress analysis, design for manufacturing and assembly, equipment selection, and detailed engineering drawing generation.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including FEA/CFD analysis, manufacturing, process, and testing teams to complete project objectives.
  • Own and track project schedules and budgets for internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Establish, optimize, and maintain mechanical engineering design practices, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Define and maintain mechanical requirements for various high‑temperature devices.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical mentorship and training for mechanical engineers, technologists, and technicians.

  • 3+ years of experience leading projects and technical teams in product development engineering.
  • Deep understanding of structural and thermal analysis principles for very high‑temperature metal component and system design.
  • Experience‑based expertise in engineering fundamentals, parametric modeling, manufacturing methods, and the overall product development process.
  • Prior experience designing and testing welded pressure vessels and heat transfer equipment, and developing high‑temperature systems such as reactors, engines, or turbines.
  • Proven track record of excellence in structural and thermal finite element analysis (FEA) applied to real‑world problems in aerospace, automotive, maritime, nuclear, or similar applications.
  • Experience applying standards and codes to designs (e.g., ASME BPVC Sections II‑D, III, V, VIII Div 1 and 2; NFPA 86; ASTM; AWS). Proficiency in all codes is not required.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T per ASME Y14.5‑2018).
  • Experience taking one or more hardware products through commercialization.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with limited resources.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with timely communication to internal stakeholders.
