Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Ads Modeling

Unity Technologies SF is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer for Ads Modeling to strengthen ads recommendation algorithms and support personalized advertising experiences. The role is based in New York, NY (onsite) , and emphasizes both user behavior modeling and the production of research through close collaboration with engineering and product teams.

Role Overview

Unity Vector Ads Modeling is focused on developing and validating approaches for modeling user behavior, then operationalizing those research outcomes. You will use rich user data and large-scale compute to evaluate model performance quickly, while partnering across teams to bring effective modeling into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities and define a modeling roadmap that aligns with customer needs.
• Lead foundational research to explore new models and modeling paradigms.
• Use rich user data and large-scale compute to validate models rapidly.
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to productionalize research.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience applying state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models to complex real-world problems, with emphasis on user behavior modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch , including deep learning frameworks.
• Strong understanding of metric design, large-scale data analysis, and distributed computing frameworks.
• Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end, solving critical cross-team problems and delivering measurable business results.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is USD 222,600 - 325,400 per year .

• Zone A: $250,300 - $325,400 USD
• Zone B: $222,600 - $289,400 USD
• Zone C: $197,400 - $256,600 USD

In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in company incentive plans (for example, annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer depends on geographic location, relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
