Principal HVAC Design Engineer (Industrial Systems) - Kohler, Wisconsin

MissionHires is hiring a Principal HVAC Design Engineer (Industrial Systems) for a full-time, on-site role near Kohler, Wisconsin. This is a permanent W-2 position with full benefits, paying up to $140,000. The role focuses on quoting, planning, and designing large-scale industrial and heavy commercial HVAC systems, overseeing project delivery, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with field staff, customers, and contractors. This position is with a family-oriented, under-100-employee HVAC provider known for a flexible, laid-back culture and long employee tenure. US citizenship or Green Card required; no relocation, no remote, and in-state day travel only.

Responsibilities

• Quote, plan, and design industrial and heavy commercial HVAC systems
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines; track costs and deadlines
• Collaborate with field employees, coworkers, customers, and contractors to meet project objectives
• Ensure project delivery meets customer expectations and quality standards
• Mentor, direct, and supervise engineering and project staff
• Conduct site visits and travel to jobsites within the state (no overnights)
• Support continuous improvement of design standards, documentation, and processes
• Provide technical leadership and problem-solving throughout project lifecycle

Requirements

• 6+ years of project management experience in industrial or heavy commercial HVAC
• Proven experience quoting, planning, and designing large-scale mechanical/HVAC systems
• Ability to travel to various in-state jobsites (no overnight travel)
• Strong track record of meeting deadlines, budgets, and customer expectations
• Experience mentoring, directing, or supervising technical staff
• Solid, stable work history
• Residence within approximately 45 minutes of the Kohler, Wisconsin area
• Full-time, on-site only (no remote); permanent W-2 employment
• Comfort working in a flexible, family-oriented, small-company environment
