Overview
RS&H is seeking a Principal Highway Engineer for our Transportation team in Tampa, FL. As a discipline leader and subject matter expert, you will define project elements and processes, participate in bid preparation, maintain client relationships, oversee contract performance, lead design teams, and implement company-wide standards.
Responsibilities
- Define project elements and processes to meet client needs.
- Coordinate preparation of bids and champion client relationships.
- Oversee contract performance through planning and monitoring of work orders and deliverables with engineering, construction, and other disciplines.
- Lead major projects with complex elements and broad scope, coordinating with project management to execute plans and supervise design and technical delivery teams.
- Present technical and design solutions directly to clients and act as firm ambassador to secure new work.
- Recommend new practices or changes in emphasis for professional services.
- Develop and apply company-wide standard operating procedures and technical requirements for projects and discipline deliverables.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 15 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional engineer in good standing.
- Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
- Proficient in production software and construction document production.
- Strong decision‑making background with significant organizational impact.
- Recognized as a thought leader with experience leading multiple disciplines and technical decision‑making.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including senior leadership communication.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, team members, and stakeholders.
