The Opportunity
RS&H is currently seeking a Principal Highway Engineer to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. As part of the infrastructure team, you will serve as a discipline leader, subject matter expert, and technical resource for discipline and related program activities. You will actively participate in discipline quality improvement and assurance activities, define project elements and processes to meet client needs, participate in and coordinate preparation of bids, promote and maintain client relationships, oversee contract performance through shared planning and monitoring of work orders and deliverables with engineering, construction, and other disciplines, lead projects including major projects with complex elements and a broad scope of responsibilities, coordinate with project management to execute project plans and directly supervise the team’s design and technical delivery, and promote client relationships throughout all project phases. This position may also manage a small team of direct reports.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Must
- Have a degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 15 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be a professional engineer in good standing.
- Be knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
- Be proficient in production software and construction document production.
- Have proven background and ability to make decisions that have significant impact to an organization, as well as recommend operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results.
- Be recognized as a thought leader in the industry and have experience leading the work of multiple disciplines and participating in and/or having decision‑making on technical matters within discipline.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance.
- Have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.
