Principal Hardware Design Engineer

Position Overview

The Principal Hardware Design Engineer will work in Raytheon’s Receiver/Exciter & Processing Architecture (REPA) Department, focusing on the design, development, integration, and support of radar receiver, exciter, and transmitter subsystems.

What You Will Do

• Design, model, simulate, and verify circuit and subsystem architecture.
• Perform integration and testing at component, CCA, and subsystem levels.
• Lead transition to production and provide technical support to manufacturing and test engineers.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical engineers on design trades, requirements flow‑down, electrical analysis, and test plan development.
• Occasional travel to suppliers, integration, and customer sites.
• Manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility.

Qualifications

• Senior‑level electrical engineering expertise; preferred title: Principal Hardware Design Engineer.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Digital Design (Requirements through Build & Test), RF/Analog Design, or Production testing & troubleshooting circuits.
• Proficiency in design simulation tools (e.g., HyperLynx, LTSpice, Matlab) and design development tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics Xpedition).
• Experience leading complete designs or small teams.
• Must be U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance.
• Job is 1st shift, 100% onsite at Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interface and test experience with Digital‑to‑Analog and Analog‑to‑Digital converters.
• Experience with high‑speed digital interfaces (JESD204B, DDR3, DDR4, SERDES, 10Gbps Ethernet, Fiber Channel).
• Background in FPGA hardware inference designs, LVDS chip‑to‑chip and board‑to‑board.
• Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from system to component.
• Knowledge of cost estimating, budget, and schedule management.
• Laboratory experience using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, phase‑noise analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience in an 8‑ to 12‑month production environment.
• Technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: 107,500USD – 204,500USD. Location & Work Hours

Onsite, 1st shift at either Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA, with travel to multiple MA locations.

Essentials

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance after day1. Must be onsite for shift work.
