Position Summary

The Principal Electrical Engineer will plan and conduct work requiring the application of extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles in broad areas of assignment and related fields. Leads the definition, development, review, and maintenance of FPGA architectures and code, including design verification and validation activities. Reviews and develops HDL code, ensures design quality, and supports design reuse and long‑term maintainability. Works closely with hardware and software engineering teams to define interfaces, integrate FPGA designs into system architectures, and support system‑level debugging and releases.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an individual contributor, core team member or technical lead for a specific project or product line, with responsibility for FPGA‑related design and implementation activities.
  • Accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables, including FPGA design, verification, integration, and release, in accordance with approved schedules.
  • Independently plan, perform, and prioritize complex tasks related to FPGA architecture, coding, verification, and system integration, in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Analyze and interpret data, identify trends, formulate next steps, and perform trade‑off analysis when required.
  • Lead, design, develop, and review FPGA architectures and HDL code, and support development of test methods, specifications, and related processes for complex components and system functions.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineering teams to define interfaces, support FPGA integration, troubleshoot system‑level issues, and support product releases.
  • Evaluate complex designs or processes in terms of acceptability, suitability, and cost. Recommend preferred design options and present trade‑offs when required.
  • Identify product defects, recognize outliers in results, explain and document defects and their impact.

Secondary Functions

  • Effectively communicate technical information to a multidisciplinary team in the form of documentation, presentations and technical summaries, and promote collaboration.
  • Possess technical expertise in at least one subject area.
  • Lead without authority and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians on a given project. Provide mentoring.
  • Provide technical support for or lead CAPA or complaint investigations.
  • Generate predictable schedules while understanding cross‑functional dependencies.

  • Interface on a regular basis with groups across the organization as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or a related field.
  • Twelve years of product development or relevant experience.
  • Eight to ten years of product development or relevant experience for advanced degrees.
  • For internal candidate promotion: demonstrated proficiency in meeting all competencies of current level and acceptable performance history may be used in lieu of experience.
  • In‑vitro medical device experience highly desired.

  • Language: Proficiency in English required.
