Principal Engineer - WarheadThe Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization in the Hardware Engineering Directorate. This Department is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs/technology, including power systems, ignition, and all other weapon initiation safety systems technology. The department is seeking to hire a Principal Engineer - Warhead.The Principal Engineer – Warhead/Lethality role is in Tucson, AZ and is an onsite position.What You Will DoApply or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts to warhead integration into missile systemsInvolvement with both development and production programs across Raytheon Product LinesInterface with the Customer to identify user needsWork with customers, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve engineering issues, develop new products and hold technical reviewsConduct hydrocode simulation and lethality analysisSupport warhead design, analysis, test, and evaluationDevelop Statements of Work (SOWs)Develop Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS) and Technical Data Packages (TDP)Support fact-finding and contract negotiationsEnsure technical rigor and depth of all deliverablesWill travel periodically to government and subcontractor facilitiesQualifications You Must HaveBachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and five (5) years of relevant experienceEight (8) years of experience in the development of warheads from conceptual design through final test / assemblyProject Management as applied to team interaction and deliverablesThe ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.

U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceQualifications We PreferAdvanced degreeTen (10) or more years of directly related experience in warhead design, analysis and development from conceptual design through final test and assembly, etc.Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including structural, thermal, and aerodynamicsTechnical writing skills in the area of detailed design requirements, test requirements, statements of work, white paper and technical presentationsSupplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)Working knowledge or experience with either missile design or development, production support and integrationExperience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadershipActive Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)
