Job Overview

Principal Engineer, Product Compliance – Responsible for helping Bloom Energy successfully maintain and obtain Agency certifications.

Location: San Jose, CA – Fully on-site, in office 5 days a week. Travel domestically and internationally regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Specify certification requirements for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) systems, both domestic and international.
  • Specify certification requirements of electrical and mechanical components for SOFC fuel cell systems, both domestic and international.
  • Coordinate agency compliance projects for ANSI/CSA FC1, UL 1741, IEC 62282 series and other relevant requirements for solid oxide fuel cells, domestic and international.
  • Coordinate agency compliance projects for other Bloom Energy owned Agency projects, domestic and international.
  • Work with Applications Engineering on compliance issues related to installations, both domestic and international.
  • Work with domestic and international utilities, inspection authorities, and other government agencies to negotiate market acceptance of Bloom Energy products.
  • Prepare documentation for Agency engineering projects.
  • Maintain a library of technical decisions between Bloom Energy and Agency.
  • Work jointly with supply chain personnel to ensure sourced components complete agency certifications.
  • Work jointly with engineering staff to ensure compliance items are driven to closure on time.
  • Coordinate UL Field Evaluations.
  • Train regional Contract Manufacturers on UL Follow Up Services (FUS) requirements; conduct root cause analysis of Variation Notice, implement corrective actions and preventative action processes.
  • Travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of compliance engineering experience.
  • Technical Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Excellent ability to work on many items in parallel.
  • Excellent complex project management experience.
  • Excellent ability to track action items and drive to closure.
  • Prior working experience with or at Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL).
  • Prior working experience with or at a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
  • Prior working experience with or at an international certification agency.
  • Prior working experience with fuel cell equipment product safety engineering.
  • Prior working experience with hazardous location equipment product safety engineering.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary Range: $176,300.00 – $253,700.00.
