Permanent position for a Principal Engineer for water resources related construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and coordinate advanced specialty projects for design and construction of water resources.
- Resolve work problems and interpret administrative policies to subordinates, other departments, consultants, contractors, and the public.
- Supervise the determination of quantity, quality, and cost of materials.
- Supervise the preparation of documentation, plans, and specifications related to assigned projects.
- Determine scope, budget, and timeline requirements of engineering projects.
- Prepare RFPs and contracts for consulting services.
- Review documentation provided by consulting engineers and private contractors.
- Decide and establish technical criteria and standards.
- Prepare proposals to provide professional services to obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.
- Assist in developing standards and guidelines to support engineering operations.
- Prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations.
- Submit justifications for requests.
- Monitor and control expenditures.
- Specialized Lead for tanks, pipes, development programs, etc.
- Technical lead for the organization’s GIS program and asset inventory management.
Qualifications
- BS Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in civil engineering for municipal engineering design, construction, and contract management.
- NJ PE License required.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with engineering applications such as AutoCAD, GIS, hydraulic modeling, etc.
