We're partnering with an established B2B SaaS business that is expanding its US engineering and delivery capability and is looking for a Principal Engineer – Enterprise Integrations .

This is a senior technical role for someone who operates comfortably across engineering, architecture, data and client delivery .

You won't simply receive a specification and build what has been requested.

You'll work with clients and internal technical teams to understand complex problems, investigate existing environments, challenge assumptions and design solutions that are reliable, scalable and maintainable .

Enterprise integrations are rarely difficult because two systems need to communicate.

The real complexity lies in understanding how information moves through an organisation, what that data represents, how systems depend on one another and what happens when something changes .

You'll need to think about:

• Where data originates and how it should be consumed.

• Downstream impacts when systems or data change.
• Scalability and long-term maintainability.
• Integration patterns and architectural decisions.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide senior technical leadership across complex enterprise integration programmes, including:

• Leading solution architecture and technical design.
• Providing technical consultancy to client-facing and delivery teams.
• Working directly with senior stakeholders to understand technical challenges and recommend solutions.
• Designing and delivering robust, scalable integrations.
• Understanding enterprise data flows, transformations and dependencies.
• Investigating existing systems, integrations and codebases.
• Getting hands-on with development, troubleshooting and technical problem solving when required.
• Identifying technical risks and trade-offs early.
• Feeding recurring technical challenges into Engineering and Product.
• Developing reusable integration patterns, standards and best practices.
• Mentoring engineers and technical consultants.
• Collaborating with distributed engineering and delivery teams.

We're looking for strong experience across enterprise integration, cloud and data technologies , including:

Enterprise integration technologies

SQL & relational databases

ETL / ELT

CI/CD & DevOps

You don't need to be an expert in every technology.

What's important is that you have a strong technical foundation and can understand unfamiliar systems, investigate existing implementations and make sound architectural decisions .

Who are we looking for?

Your current title could be:

The title isn't important.

We're looking for someone who has developed from a strong hands‑on technical background into architecture, consulting and technical leadership .

You’ll bring

• 8+ years' experience delivering complex enterprise technology or integration projects.
• 5+ years' experience working with modern cloud data, integration or data engineering technologies.
• 5+ years' programming experience and the ability to understand existing codebases.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data, integrations and system dependencies.
• Experience designing solutions rather than simply implementing predefined requirements.
• Strong client‑facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The confidence to challenge requirements constructively.
• The ability to explain complex technical decisions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong judgement around scalability, maintainability, data quality and technical debt.
• The ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous technical problems.

You’ll stand out if you have

• Experience within enterprise SaaS, consulting or systems integration.
• Experience working with large, complex enterprise platforms.
• Experience integrating with major business‑critical systems.
• Experience working with high‑volume or business‑critical data.
• Experience creating reusable integration frameworks, patterns or technical standards.
• Experience mentoring engineers or technical consultants.
• Experience influencing product or engineering teams based on real‑world customer requirements.
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers or senior technical stakeholders.
