Principal Applications EngineerAs a Principal Applications Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced team that evaluates new Silicon Carbide (SiC) technologies, validates next-generation SiC power modules for data centers, industrial markets, and supports release to production. The work includes theoretical analysis of power converter topologies, simulation, and hands-on bench testing. You will interact with leading global customers and collaborate with teams across onsemi.
You will also have a direct influence on future product roadmaps.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to:Evaluate and validate advanced SiC power modulesWork in a modern, well-equipped high-power laboratoryDesign and test evaluation boards, and write application notes and datasheetsPartner with marketing to create collateral and support tradeshowsCollaborate with customers on complex power semiconductor challenges and build long-term technical relationshipsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of experience, with the focus on power electronicsExperience with power module validation is strongly preferredStrong understanding of power converter topologiesSolid knowledge of SiC device behavior and key tradeoffsFamiliarity with control theory, analog circuits, power supply design, and basic digital electronicsExperience with PCB layout, LabView, and/or Python is a plusStrong proficiency with SPICE simulators, SIMPLIS/Simetrix, and MATLAB or equivalent toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishThis is a highly visible role and includes up to 10 percent travel to support customers worldwide.About UsOnsemi (Nasdaq: ON) is driving disruptive innovations to help build a better future.
