Overview
The Wyoming Department of Transportation seeks a Principal Engineer for its Construction Program in Wheatland, Wyoming. This position oversees all aspects of highway construction and contract administration, including design, construction, and project finalization for bridges, interstate highways, state highways, and other infrastructure. The role involves managing and training engineering staff, coordinating with federal, state, county, and city agencies, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 2-4 years of progressive work experience at the Project Engineer level
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required at time of hire (Wyoming PE required within one year)
- Knowledge of highway geometrics, hydraulic design, soil engineering, and construction practices
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage engineering staff and project schedules
