Position Overview
A leading engineering and infrastructure services firm is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its growing Power & Utilities team.
This role provides technical leadership on complex engineering projects within the power sector, supporting high-impact infrastructure programs and delivering innovative, reliable solutions for clients. The successful candidate will serve as a technical expert, guiding project teams, solving complex engineering challenges, and contributing to the continued growth of the organization’s power capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and engineering leadership on complex power and utility projects.
- Coordinate project activities with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and clients.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop design and construction solutions.
- Apply advanced engineering principles, analysis methods, and industry best practices.
- Select and utilize appropriate engineering tools and software to support project delivery.
- Perform complex electrical engineering calculations, studies, and design reviews.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on technical issues for clients and project teams.
- Lead quality control efforts through project reviews at key design milestones.
- Support business development efforts and represent the organization at industry events and client meetings.
- Mentor and support the development of engineers and technical staff.
- Partner with project leadership to ensure successful project execution, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and informal supervision to engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Assist with team development, recruiting, mentoring, and retention initiatives.
- Help identify technical staffing needs and support resource planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BS required).
- 15+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Extensive experience in power systems, substations, and utility infrastructure.
- Strong background in substation engineering and electrical system design.
- Protection & Controls (P&C) experience preferred.
- Experience with electrical system modeling and analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
