About the role

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable data systems that support real-time analytics, high-volume processing, and secure, governed data delivery. You’ll play a strategic role in advancing the company’s data platform, which is evolving toward a decentralized, domain-oriented architecture. This is a highly technical and influential position—ideal for engineers passionate about architecture, performance optimization, and enabling modern data solutions across teams.

Tech stack

The team leverages a modern data stack including Spark, Scala, Python, Databricks, Delta Lake, GitLab, and Terraform. Projects are deployed on cloud infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code principles and follow data mesh and FinOps practices.

What will you do

  • Design and implement a modern, distributed data platform aligned with Data Mesh principles.

  • Develop and optimize high-performance pipelines and scalable data storage systems.

  • Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization using FinOps methodologies.

  • Support secure and compliant data environments by helping define and apply access and governance policies.

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance architecture and analytics capabilities.

  • Act as a technical authority across the data engineering function, contributing to decision-making and mentoring other engineers.

  • Collaborate with leadership to support team growth and talent acquisition.

  • Challenge existing systems by exploring innovative data processing paradigms and real-time analytics strategies.

Ideally you bring

  • Strong experience in designing and building large-scale data processing pipelines and architectures.

  • Proven ability to implement end-to-end data solutions including real-time processing and secure data storage.

  • Solid understanding of data quality practices and compliance standards.

  • Expertise with cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code (preferably Terraform).

  • Familiarity with the Data Mesh model and its practical application in large organizations.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Self-driven, proactive mindset with a commitment to staying updated on data architecture trends and tools.
