Principal Data Analyst - Card

Own analytics that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights. This Principal Data Analyst role is onsite in McLean, VA , supporting innovation through analytic and technical work across Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management . You will use open source and digital technologies to build data solutions, enable self-service for data consumers, and strengthen data quality practices while collaborating with business and technology partners.

What you’ll do

• Use Open Source/Digital technologies to mine complex, high-volume data from a variety of sources and platforms
• Build and maintain well-managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities that support self-service frameworks for data consumers
• Move initiatives forward by quickly exploring and understanding new technologies
• Partner with business teams to translate business needs into tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
• Drive analyses that support meaningful insights on business strategy
• Support adherence to data quality management principles , including metadata, lineage, and business definitions
• Collaborate with appropriate Tech teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance
• Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality

Requirements

• Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline
• Scripting experience with Python , R , Spark , and SQL
• Strong desire and experience working with data in various forms, including data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data
• Experience utilizing and developing within AWS services
• At least 3 years of experience in at least one scripting language
• At least 1 year of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization tool
• At least 3 years of experience querying and analyzing data using data languages and platforms
• Education/experience alignment: Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 5 years of data analytics experience, or Master’s Degree plus at least 3 years , or PhD (as specified)

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline
• At least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
• At least 4 years of experience with process management and improvement methodologies, such as Agile , Lean , or Six Sigma
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS services
• At least 2 years delivering Data Governance and Data Quality Management concepts and practices within the financial services industry

Compensation

Full-time . Salary range for Principal Data Analyst:

• McLean, VA : $131,300 - $149,800 per year
• Richmond, VA : $119,400 - $136,200 per year
