Position Overview

The Autodesk Global Consulting Delivery team is seeking a Principal Consultant to join our Architecture, Engineering and Construction Services group in North America. The role involves defining and deploying innovative strategies and solutions that leverage digital design, delivery, management, data produced by these processes, and Artificial Intelligence as a competitive advantage. The Principal Consultant will lead transformational change at the enterprise level and build stronger, more effective organizations.

Responsibilities

• Work with Autodesk’s largest customers to define innovative building design, engineering, and management strategies and solutions that maximize value from their Autodesk investment.
• Collaborate with Autodesk account teams to develop Customer Success Plans and customer engagements to deliver those strategies.
• Ensure exceptional delivery against the Customer Success Plan in partnership with the Autodesk Consulting Project Management team.
• Shape the Autodesk Consulting service offering and its delivery.
• Interface with thought leaders within Autodesk and externally to support and shape the product offering.
• Serve as a trusted business partner to customers and internal teams.
• Develop and deliver innovative, strategically impactful business and technology solutions.
• Help customers drive transformational change using proven change‑management methodologies.
• Lead facilitated workshops with customers to identify solution opportunities and align on solution paths.
• Create high‑quality design, engineering, and operational management deliverables.
• Define and track the value of solutions delivered and document the impact of customer investment.
• Lead and/or participate in the development of new and expanded consulting offerings.
• Build the Autodesk Consulting brand through industry thought leadership, presentations, and publications.
• Lead project delivery efforts, ensuring high quality and professionalism from team members.
• Mentor junior staff in customer engagement, change management, strategic thinking, workshop facilitation, and communication.
• Advise on project estimation and participate in business development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of hands‑on experience in the buildings industry, with a focus on developing, managing, or delivering digital design, engineering, and management solutions across a business enterprise.
• Excellent strategic thinking, innovation, program management, change management, business process optimization, and communications skills.
• Proficiency in facilitating customer workshops using a variety of techniques.
• Strong initiative and ability to drive decisions and close issues.
• Experience working with diverse technical, sales, and project management teams.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Solid working knowledge of software development lifecycle processes and structured project management.
• Excellent written and oral communication, including workshop facilitation, meetings, and presentations.
• Ability to translate complex topics into clear, non‑technical language.
• Travel availability up to 50% of the time, including international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of building design, engineering, construction, and management industry practices.
• Experience with BIM for industrial uses, facility ownership & management, data management/readiness strategy, data science & advanced analytics, generative design, AI, and machine learning.
• Advanced experience developing workflow processes between architects, designers, engineers, contractors, and owners.
• Advanced experience leveraging Autodesk products such as Construction Cloud/BIM 360 (all modules), Revit, Navisworks, Civil³D, Infraworks, etc.
• Experience developing and sustaining a digital design and delivery solution portfolio.

Salary Information

For U.S.-based roles, the starting base salary is expected to be between $100,000 and $179,080. Offers are based on experience, geographic location, and may exceed this range. Additional compensation may include annual cash bonuses, commissions (for sales roles), stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
