Principal AI Development Engineer

Broadcom’s GTO team is seeking a high-energy, visionary Principal AI Development Engineer to serve as a strategic leader and the primary architect of our AI transformation. In this Level 5 role you will run large-scale projects that define how Broadcom leverages agentic AI across its global hardware and software divisions, operating at the intersection of cutting-edge Generative AI and high-scale Full‑stack Development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute high‑impact AI initiatives from conception to global production, ensuring solutions are simple, scalable, and innovative.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between GTO and business units, translating high‑level engineering challenges into next‑generation agentic solutions.
• Define the long‑term technical roadmap for AI orchestration, currently leveraging LangGraph while maintaining flexibility to pivot as the pathway evolves.
• Bridge production‑grade Full‑stack development with AI logic, setting the standard for building non‑deterministic software at scale.
• Mentor senior staff, conduct formal design reviews, and propose fluid architectural options that advance the team’s capabilities.
• Partner with infrastructure to optimize deployment of AI models and vector databases within Kubernetes environments.
• Communicate complex AI roadmaps and project statuses clearly to technical squads and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of leading and delivering complex, large‑scale projects.
• Expert‑level experience building agentic workflows, RAG architectures, and complex orchestration (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI).
• Deep, hands‑on experience in both front‑end and back‑end development, mastery of Python and modern enterprise‑grade languages.
• Expert knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) and scalable architecture principles.
• High proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines to ensure AI agents are production‑ready.
• Expert in version control (GitHub), Test‑Driven Development, and automated testing tailored for AI outputs.

Preferred Skills

• Experience running cross‑departmental projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience managing AI‑driven automation for mixed software and hardware assets.
• Proven ability to conduct peer evaluations and formal design reviews that drive architectural excellence across an enterprise.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $118,800 – $190,000. You will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, new‑hire equity grant, and annual equity awards.
