WellMed, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join their Central Park clinic in Harlingen, TX. Optum is a clinician-led care organization focused on improving healthcare for everyone, providing clinical resources, data, and support. This role offers the opportunity to practice autonomously in an ambulatory setting, contributing to a national healthcare organization while advancing community health.
Practice Info
- Typically see 15 to 16 patients per day
- Clinics are closed for 8 national holidays
- Strong clinical support team that includes NPs, PAs, RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT
- Collaborate with primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and a network of employed/contracted sub-specialists
- Practice medicine autonomously in an ambulatory setting partnering with primary care
Compensation
- Physicians are measured and rewarded on quality of care (most physicians earn $50,000, paid semi-annually)
- Guaranteed, competitive compensation model based on quality, not quantity, with significant earning potential, annual increases, and bonus eligibility
- Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $237,500 - $384,000
- Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus

Requirements
- Required: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S.
- Required: Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine, or currently completing an accredited residency program
- Required: Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
- Required: Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
- Required: Valid DEA license, or the ability to obtain prior to employment
- Preferred: A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
