The organization is a Federally Qualified, Non‑Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. We are looking for a full‑time Site Medical Director to join our team supporting the Bay Street site.
Full Time
Salary Range: $237,182.40 – $269,755.20 per year
Plus $10,000 stipend
Sign‑On Bonus: $5,000 for eligible external applicants – terms and conditions apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Takes histories, performs physical examinations, and prescribes treatment and medication for conditions within the scope of his/her specialty following evidence‑based standards of care.
- Provides off‑hours and hospital coverage for Health Center patients as contractually obligated.
- Designs and participates in quality improvement activities, including medical‑record peer review, performance and procedure audits, outcome audits, and focused reviews.
- Provides supervision for clinical activities of medical providers and medical documentation in his/her department, including review of protocols, telephone triage, and follow‑up procedures.
- Coordinates tests, referrals, and care of SRH patients outside the Health Center.
- Sets standards for preventive care and diagnostic screening within his/her specialty; participates in developing programs to implement these standards.
- Maintains legible and appropriate documentation of medical records.
- Participates and attends provider meetings.
- Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.
Minimum Education Requirements
Doctorate Degree (MD, DO, DD, PhD, etc.)
Minimum Licensure Requirements
Board Certification, Physician License, and CPR/BLS certification.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to perform and that are necessary for practicing in health‑care centers.
- Competence in delivering health care to patients, including preventative health education.
- Ability to collaborate with other Health Center members to maintain high‑quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) is preferred.

Sun River Health was founded in the early 1970s by four African American women in Peekskill, New York, to address the lack of accessible health services in their community. With a small federal grant, the first site opened in 1975. Over the years, the organization has grown into a comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center system with more than 45 locations, serving over 250,000 patients across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. In December 2018, Sun River Health expanded its reach by merging with Brightpoint Health, an FQHC network offering integrated medical, behavioral and social support services in New York City.
