Position Summary
Provides comprehensive primary care to incarcerated individuals in a structured clinical setting, managing acute and chronic conditions while working closely with healthcare and facility staff to ensure quality patient care.
Qualifications Required
Education
Master’s degree or higher
Experience
- Primary Care (1+ years)
- Care Management (1+ years)
- 1+ years of experience in any of the following:
- Correctional Care
- Correctional Medicine
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
- Any of the following valid licenses/certifications:
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Any of the following valid licenses/certifications:
- American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
Overview
- Schedule: 4‑day work week, day shift, no weekends, standard holiday schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
- Provide sick‑call coverage and same‑day medical evaluations
- Develop and monitor treatment plans
- Educate patients regarding medications, disease management, and preventive healthcare
- Maintain accurate documentation within the NextGen EMR system
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and facility staff to ensure quality patient care
