Opioid Abatement Coordinator

This part-time grant funded position supports campus opioid abatement goals by implementing substance use prevention strategies, increasing awareness, and connecting students to resources that reduce harm and promote well-being. The role operates college-wide, serving four main campuses through consistent, in-person outreach and programming.

Essential Duties

Lead the coordination of college-wide substance use prevention and awareness initiatives, with an emphasis on opioid misuse prevention, using strategies aligned with evidence-based public health frameworks (e.g., SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework). Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based and evidence-informed programs that address opioid misuse, overdose prevention (including naloxone education), and related risk/protective factors among college students. Collect, analyze, and interpret program data (participation, outcomes, behavioral indicators) to assess effectiveness, demonstrate impact, and continuously improve opioid abatement efforts. Develop and disseminate targeted prevention messaging using best practices in health communication across social media, digital platforms, and in-person engagement to increase awareness and reduce stigma. Provide brief education, early intervention support, and warm referrals to on-campus and community-based services, including substance use treatment, recovery supports, and harm reduction resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, or related field. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others. One year relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in creating successful prevention programs.
