Press HelperNorth Shore Steel is seeking a motivated and dependable Press Helper to join our fabrication team in Houston. This position plays a critical role in supporting Press Brake Operators by assisting with material handling, production preparation, quality verification, and workflow coordination. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a manufacturing environment, and has a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in advancing their careers in metal fabrication and manufacturing, with potential growth into a Press Brake Operator role.Primary DutiesAssist Press Brake Operators with daily production activities.Load, unload, stage, and move raw materials and finished products safely throughout the work area.Verify material grades, sizes, thicknesses, and quantities against work orders and production documentation.Assist with machine setup activities, tooling changes, and production preparation.Measure parts using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other measuring devices to verify conformance to specifications.Support quality inspections and communicate any concerns to the Press Brake Operator or Supervisor.Remove finished parts from the machine and prepare them for the next operation or shipment.Assist with overhead crane operations and material movement when properly trained and authorized.Maintain production flow by ensuring operators have the materials, tooling, and support needed to meet production schedules.Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Assist with routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance activities.Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills & QualificationsStrong commitment to workplace safety.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Basic math and measurement skills.Ability to accurately read a tape measure.Strong attention to detail and quality.Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and equipment operation.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.Previous manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, construction, or industrial experience preferred.Overhead crane, forklift, or material handling equipment experience is a plus.Must be able to work day shift with a start time of 6 a.m., Monday-Friday, and Saturdays/Sundays as required.What It Takes to Be SuccessfulPositive attitude and willingness to learn.Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Strong teamwork and communication skills.Commitment to producing quality work and supporting production goals.Desire to grow within the organization and develop advanced fabrication skills.At North Shore Steel, you'll join a team that values safety, craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement.
