Onsite Full Time Management & Leadership

Founded in 1937, the Arizona Trucking Association (ATA) is the voice of the trucking industry in Arizona, representing approximately 330 member companies — from small, family-owned businesses to major interstate carriers — along with allied industry partners across the state. ATA's mission is to promote leadership in the Arizona trucking industry, advocate sound transportation policy, and support a safe and efficient goods movement system for the state.

About the Role

The ATA Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and highly qualified professional to serve as the Association's next President & CEO. Reporting to a 44-member Board of Directors, this executive will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for ATA's staff, programs, and mission — including serving as Executive Director of the Arizona Trucking Association Foundation (ATA Foundation), the Association's affiliated 501(c)(3) charitable and educational arm, governed by its own 14-member board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Association's principal, registered lobbyist to the Arizona State Legislature and Congressional Delegation; lead advocacy on issues such as lawsuit/legal-system abuse, predatory towing, transportation funding, and tolling
  • Serve as chief spokesperson and media contact for the Association
  • Lead membership recruitment and retention efforts
  • Oversee all financial activities of the Association and ATA Foundation, including budget management and fiscal reporting
  • Direct strategic planning, fundraising, and grants management for the ATA Foundation's scholarship, safety, and outreach programs
  • Manage the Association's Political Action Committee

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree strongly desired; qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis
  • 4–8 years of related senior management experience, with a track record of effectively leading an organization
  • Experience within the trucking/transportation industry or with a member-based association strongly preferred
  • Registered lobbying experience and established relationships with elected/appointed officials
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed

This is a well-compensated position, commensurate with experience, with a comprehensive executive benefits package.
