nPosition Overview
nThe Preschool Nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality pediatric nursing care within our school, with a focus on infection control, chronic illness management, and child development support. This role provides health oversight across campus and leads the Get Well Place—our in-house care center for sick children.
nKey Responsibilities
nProvide direct nursing care to children with minor illnesses, chronic conditions, and injuries
nManage the daily operation of the Get Well Place, ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations
nPerform daily health screenings and wellness checks across the student population
nDevelop and implement individualized health care plans in collaboration with families and teachers as needed
nCoordinate medication administration, immunization records, and emergency care protocols
nAct as a liaison between families, staff, and pediatric health providers
nConduct staff training on basic safety protocols, hygiene practices, and communicable disease prevention
nMonitor and document all health-related incidents, exposures, and care outcomes
nSupport children with special medical needs, developmental delays, or allergies in the classroom setting
nParticipate in Quality Assurance inspections, licensing visits, and health audits
nStay current with public health trends and integrate best practices into daily procedures
nQualifications
nGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing
nActive and unrestricted CNA, CMA or LPN license (required)
nMinimum 2 years of recent pediatric, school nurse, or community health nursing experience
nCPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
nFamiliarity with infection control protocols, medication documentation, and child illness policies
nProficient in basic technology and electronic health documentation
nStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional school teams
nA genuine passion for working with children in a preschool or early learning center setting
nPreferred Backgrounds
nSchool Nurse, Pediatric RN, Public Health Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
nPrior experience in early childhood education, daycare health services, or preschool wellness
nExperience in care coordination, staff supervision, or nursing in community-based environments
