As a Prep Cook, you’ll work closely with our Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef to produce and contribute to our talented kitchen team, ensuring the highest standards of quality, flavor, and service. Qualifications
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred
- NY Department of Health Food Handler’s License
- Minimum 2 years of culinary experience, ideally in high-volume catering, fine dining restaurants or events.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills and to maintain quality standards.
- Proficient in recipe consistency.
- Knowledge of NYC Department of Health guidelines and a commitment to maintaining a safe, sanitary kitchen.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends.
Job Description
Responsibilities would include but not be limited to:
Production & Purchasing
- Assist the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef and Pastry Chef in preparing and cooking delicious menu items for daily catering and event orders
- Execute prep lists and recipes to the Dish standard
- Ensure work stations are fully set up and stocked
- Stock inventory and supplies
- Safely operate kitchen equipment
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Maintaining cleanliness and participating in deep cleaning of any BOH work areas, including and not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas
- Ensure that food preparation, refrigerators and storage areas meet the Department of Health and Dish’s food safety and sanitation standards.
